Spotlight on Carlos Danger

In 2013, the New York mayoral race heated up in more ways than one. Democratic candidate Anthony Wiener humiliated himself as well as his poor wife by sexting at least 3 women under the name "Carlos Danger", sending nude photos as well as trying to sleep with them. Wiener is was caught, he was turned over to his wife, he was humiliated himself by hosts of talk shows, by other candidates, by everyone, yet he did not withdraw from the race. Not only did he finish last among the Democratic candidates, he lost his career and wife.

This is not his first scandal by the way, this happened and caused his resignation from congress in 2011. What name did he go under before? If you guessed Carlos Danger you're correct again. Who in their right mind would use the same name, do the exact same thing, and expect to still have a place in politics? We're likely to see Wiener try for the presidency next and lose because of a crazy sex scandal. If we're being honest, there are other reasons he'd lose, but still; is it that hard to learn your lesson Carlos?

Why Should Marijuana be Legal?

Marijuana is seen as demonic by some, and a blessing to others, so why are people pushing so hard for it to be illegal everywhere, yet they go drink at a bar for hours after they lobby against this "drug"?

Studies show that marijuana is not as bad as alcohol in short term effects and generally the same in long term effects, so why do hypocrites say that weed is such a bad thing? Like most new things, whatever people don't understand, they are afraid of. People are afraid to legalize it because they've never had an experience with it, they don't know what it really does. "It must turn me into a bumbling idiot", well what does alcohol do to you? They do the same thing but when it comes down to it and you need to function, you can do it after smoking marijuana, not after a few shots.

People may not want to legalize it, but if that is the case then why not make alcohol illegal? More people have died from alcohol poisoning in the past year than have ever died from overdosing on marijuana, because exactly 0 people have ever died from that, it is literally impossible.

Gay Marriage, Why does it matter to you?

Why does gay marriage matter to those who have nothing to do with it? "Getting mad at someone else's marriage because it's against your religion is like getting mad at someone for eating a doughnut because you're on a diet", a very true statement. Why does it matter those who don't have to deal with it? The radical christian and Muslim cultures that condemn gay marriage don't understand what it is so they immediately believe it's wrong. People are scared of what they don't understand.

There is the argument of emotion and there is that of law and logic. The colonists came to what is now the United States in order to escape persecution from the state they had been oppressed by. So why don't we see that we are doing the same to them? We persecute them for being different in a land that was founded on being different, and believing different. There should be a separation of church and state as well, why should the Bible define marriage? What of those who aren't Christian and don't follow the Bible? Why must they be forced to follow a text they don't believe in?

People need to be more tolerant of other walks of life, tolerance is not understanding something, accepting something, but to see that you don't understand but not condemn them for being different.

The Positives of Planned Parenthood

Abortion is a hot topic in the United States right now, and some very much agree it should be a woman's choice while others believe the baby is a living being who deserves a fighting chance. The thing that is the largest controversy is Planned Parenthood, the program that helps with abortion and contraceptives.

Even though some may disagree with the abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood, there are good things about it. It gives contraceptives to those who need them. Condoms, Plan B, birth control, and although many disagree with it, these things are needed. People aren't going to stop having sex, So until the point we have a culture change to where sex is only for when people are responsible enough to handle it on their own. Planned Parenthood is a good thing in some aspects regardless of which side of the Roe V. Wade fence you're on.

Joe Biden's Failed Presidential Campaign

Joe Biden, who hasn't even officially said he's running for president, is on the polls now, falling far behind both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Why he thinks he can possibly jump in the race now and win makes no sense whatsoever. He will never beat Hillary Clinton and neither will Sanders for that matter, no matter how much I would like him to. Biden doesn't have the right influence, the right resources, the right team behind him.

Hillary is the most resourceful by far, she has a former president at her back, name recognition, money, influence, power. Then Bernie Sanders, "feel the Bern", with his large mass of supporters, massive influence on the internet and his "sincerity" as a candidate. But then there's Biden who doesn't have much to offer the race, no new ideas and nothing exceptionally special about his candidacy, his run for president would just be a failed dream and a waste of money if he were to run. It would further divide the Democratic Party and just hurt those candidates who have a chance.

Stop Denying Global Warming

In Today's world we have a few groups of people, those who believe in science, those who believe in religion, and those who believe in both when it comes to the changing of the world. Evolution is a common argument, how man was created, but that doesn't effect our daily life. What does is the other major topic that scientists and religious leaders bicker about; global warming.

Many Christians believe in science as many smart scientists believe in Christianity, but there is a group of radical Christians who deny that science has its place in the "real world". They believe Global Warming is a lie, evolution is wrong, and the Earth was created by God just a few thousand years ago. Science has come to prove all of those things wrong, not just wrong on some, dead wrong. Those who deny Global Warming, Marco Rubio, Lynn Jenkins, Pat Roberts,Rand Paul, John Beohner, and so many more, refuse to believe it exists and that humans have not caused anything to change.

Science has shown that there is a link between greenhouse gasses and human carbon emissions, and that both cause Global Warming. A general consensus among scientists is that it exists and that we caused it, we expatiated the process and could cause the world to plunge into a meltdown state if we aren't careful. Yes it was bound to happen eventually due to the natural fluctuation of the Earth's temperature, but it isn't supposed to go this fast.

The first step in fixing it is recognizing there's a problem.

Republican's View on Immigration

In today's world, people always say "think of the children!", oh yes, think of the children is all we hear nowadays when they want money for charity or cans for a food drive, but most of America's children are doing just fine. But what about other countries? In particular, Mexico and South America; where the kids have no food, no shelter, half the time they have no family because they're sent here to the "land of opportunity" to find a better life, and then are turned away.

In 2014, President Obama let 50,000 kids stay in the United States, kids that were sent here to find better lives. He was shamed by Republicans and other conservative groups because "we don't need more of those immigrants in our country". Hey, news flash conservatives, your families were once immigrants too! If we turn away these poor kids then what makes this country better than any other? America is great because when another country needs help, whether it be their government or their people, we reach out to help them. We are the World's police, or that's the reputation we have set up for ourselves and help people like police should. President Obama was in the right when he made accommodations for the kids to stay, he did what any other caring person would do.

Its understandable when you turn away a man who's known to be a former drug addict from entering the country, but to turn away a defenseless child who has given up everything to be standing in our country today, we would have to be heartless.

Guns on Campus

In the state of Kansas, new laws dictate that guns no longer need to be concealed to be carried on college campuses as well as in public areas. Why do Kansas law makers insist on putting more kids in danger?

"The only thing that's gonna stop a bad guy with a good guy with a gun", that might work in some instances, but think of all the college kids who are not in the best state of mind. Is it a good idea for a college kid to conceal a weapon when going to a party? What if the kid consumes alcohol, last I checked, a large percentage of college kids do, and lots of it. When the student becomes angry and draws a firearm, the whole party takes a different turn. How many deaths will this cause compared to how many it will save? How many mass school shootings happen every year, and how many aggravated battery cases happen every day? Think if the attacker has a gun, if he's angry enough to put someone in the hospital, he might just be angry and crazy enough to shoot them.

Also, how many students are going to walk around waving their guns, flaunting them and intimidating those who don't have them? Every "gun nuts'" kid is going to walk around as if he owns the campus.

Guns on college campuses are an absolutely horrible idea. In a perfect world where college kids are as responsible and mature as society makes them out to be, it would be brilliant for those responsible students to have weapons to defend themselves from actual threats, but news flash; most college kids are just that at heart: kids.

A View on "Religious Liberty"

Kim Davis, a county clerk in Kentucky, had been refusing to hand out marriage licenses to the LGBT community even though federal law now grants them every right to marry. She claims its against her religion to grant them marriage licenses, but why can her religion dictate the lives of other people? Should an employee of the state be able to use religion as an excuse to not do her job?
When you're an employee of the government, you have no right to influence other people's religion or lives. This is a free country, free of religious persecution; this is a very turned around backwards form of religious persecution, but none the less, is still what the founders of this country were trying to avoid.
Davis has no right to get mad at gays and lesbians and deny them their right as citizens of the United States just because she believes differently. Then after she was charged with disobeying a judge and sent to jail, she did not show remorse, she didn't take his deal. He asked if her employees could grant the licenses, she could've escaped completely free, but she decided to refuse that as well.
Claiming someone else's marriage is against your religion is like being mad at someone for eating a doughnut because you're on a diet.

Trump's Craziness

Hello to those reading, I’m Brenden Williams, and I’ll be taking you through what I think are the biggest political blunders going on in our society. I’d like to give a little background on myself first; I’m a small town kid from Sabetha, Kansas, which is only an hour north of Topeka, a very conservative Republican town, so I’m not sure how that influenced me to be the way I am now. I’ve always been interested in politics, the main reason I chose this topic, because of a man named Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show for 16 years. I proudly say I didn’t miss an episode for 7 years, and he will be missed as my favorite TV host. I’m very liberal when it comes to politics, and usually side with Democrats on most subjects, but that does not mean they don’t mess up a lot, they’re still politicians, and like all politicians, they’re hungry for power. So now I move on to my very first political mess up, involving Donald Trump, and Lindsey Grahm.
First off, I would like to say this; Trump will never win the Republican nomination. He’s too radical, he’s too insane, no women, no African Americans, no Latino citizens will ever vote for him because of the comments he’s made the past 3 months. He has said no women over 120 pounds are beautiful, a very strong and very wrong statement. He has called Latinos “murderers, rapists and drug addicts” but he assumes “some…are good people”. He is a bully, not an innovator. People say “well he’s not a politician, that’s why I like him”, which is a bad reason. Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon, was also never a politician, and is a much better candidate. He seems smarter, more composed, and doesn’t try to push people around. I may be a hard press Democrat, but I would vote Ben Carson over Hillary Clinton. I would never vote Donald Trump however.
So that brings me to my first question to GOP candidates, why are you fighting him?
Recently, Donald Trump released Lindsey Grahm’s personal phone number on TV, making him seem irrational, unreasonable, downright insane. Then to retaliate, instead of changing his number, instead of a press release by Grahm saying he did so, instead of doing something logical and strategic, Grahm released a video of him smashing phones. Why are people fighting Trump? He could’ve easily been seen as the more mentally stable candidate if he had just ignored the remarks about him, ignored his phone being released, and fixed it with a quick call to his mobile carrier. No, he had to go out of his way to smash iPhones with golf clubs and make Trump seem sane.
There is my first political blunder I wanted to comment on, for future politicians and public officials; you can’t win against crazy.
